The Foundation was created shortly after Swiss historian of art Jacques-Edouard Berger’s death by a small group of relatives and friends in 1994[2], all sharing the same passion for art. Its aim is to edit his entire works through a website called after his name. As a result of both his research and cultural trips, there are more than 100'000 images (mainly slides), as well as recordings of Berger’s successful lectures.
Since Berger’s private collection has been placed at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs de Lausanne, the actual MUDAC, the Foundation was inaugurated with an exhibition showing a great number of qualitative and original objects [3], (November, 17, 1995 – January, 2, 1996).
The Foundation’s purpose is to share Jacques-Edouard Berger’s knowledge and vision in art.
Jacques-Edouard Berger (May, 24, 1945 – November, 10, 1993), primarily an egyptologist, was a lecturer in Lausanne, Switzerland. He also worked as a member of several international committees such as International Council of Museums or UNESCO.
